How much feed should I order, and when?

By the Poultrack team

Running out of feed is expensive, and so is buying too much and watching it go stale. A simple rule keeps you in between.

Step 1: know your daily use

Add up the feed given over the last seven days and divide by seven.

Step 2: know your days of stock

Days of stock = feed left in the store ÷ daily use.

Step 3: order before it gets tight

Add your supplier delivery time and a small safety margin. If delivery takes three days and you want two spare days, reorder when you have about five days left.

Daily use goes up as birds grow, so check the rate again each week. Poultrack watches this for you and warns you before stock runs low.
